Bristol Brunswick Fig

Esme Betamax is a writer/illustrator/designer/drummer. She likes to explore the relationships people have with digital media and creates work based on her findings (see: Analogue Tweet Generator). A huge alternative music and film freak, she writes for Battle Royale With Cheese and Headfirst Bristol, and produces the zine Video Graphics Array. She is also the Director of Bristol Comic & Zine Fair.

Laura is an artist and member of The Brunswick Club; a space in the centre of Bristol that hosts a cohort of 3 artist-led collectives (Bristol Experimental & Expanded Film, CHAMP & Residence). She is a keen advocate in supporting artist-led activity and anti-gentrification, with 10 years experience of working in artist-led spaces in Bristol. Current creative pursuits include working in the BEEF darkroom or playing as part of Viridian; an audio-visual improvisation of cello, voice, double bass and film (digital & 16mm film).

Laura and Esme have joined forces to create Bristol Brunswick Fig: Champions of radical, D.I.Y, queer, feminist makers and artist-led culture in Bristol. Covering topics such as gentrification, identity and solidarity, we bring together and distribute a small selection of DIY, independent and experimental publishing from Bristol and further afield.
